Traditional Crowning Ceremony
FRIDAY 2ND JULY 2010. TIME & SCHEDULE TO BE CONFIRMED
Each year the a girl from the village is chosen as the Seafood Queen, with two junior girls selected as accompanying Seafood Princesses to represent the village.
The eve of the festival weekend see's the Seafood Queen and princesses carried across the harbour water by fishing boat where they are escorted to Tarbert Castle for the activities and ceremony. A piper plays at the corner of the castle as part of this authentic and traditional ceremony.
With a short speech from one of the local Councillors, followed by a battle reenactment or parody play, food and wine, music, readings and the crowning of the Seafood Queen and Princesses, this traditional ceremony marks the official opening of the annual Seafood Festival.
For the crowning ceremony either make your way to Tarbert Castle or alternatively to the quayside near the Loch Fyne Gallery on Friday 2nd July 2010 for the ceremony.
